This one-of-a-kind mid-century chest of drawers has been expertly restored and artist-finished by Chloe Kempster, a renowned UK furniture artist known for creating bold, collectible statement pieces.

Dating from the 1950s, the chest is constructed from traditional plywood and pine, valued for its durability and clean architectural lines. Original retro details have been carefully retained, including the matte black brass handles and restored wooden legs, preserving the integrity of its mid-century origins.
The frame is finished in a soft off-white Valspar Eggshell, subtly leaning towards a very pale beige. A refined satin sheen contrasts beautifully with the decorative drawer fronts and their high-gloss finish.

The drawer fronts feature bespoke artwork created using hand-painted paper, individually cut and collaged by hand to form a bold monochrome composition. The ink-blotted effect delivers strong visual impact while remaining elegant and versatile. Each drawer front is sealed with glossy resin, creating a smooth, glass-like surface that adds depth, durability and a luxurious tactile quality.
To complete the piece, the drawer interiors and legs have been treated with a clear gloss wood oil, enriching the natural grain and providing warmth and contrast against the painted exterior.
The chest is in excellent condition, with smoothly opening drawers and a solid, stable stance. Signed on the reverse, this is a genuine one-off piece of artist-finished vintage furniture.
