Furniture Artist Focus!
Something I’ve wanted to do for a while, is highlight the incredible skills of the some of the Furniture Artist’s you might see in your feed.
If you’ve an Upcycler yourself, you’ll know it’s not an easy (or quick!) process. There are many stages to upcycling a piece of furniture, from the prep… which involves cleaning, sometimes filling, often sanding, priming, sanding again, painting etc… to finally staging and marketing the piece.
It can be a hard slog, taking many hours, is usually done alone and yet, these pieces are magnificent. Every detail has been thought of, every line is painted perfectly. I recently saw a clip of an Upcycler who does the most incredible taped designs, meticulously using a scalpel to scrape any runaway paint out of the wood grain, to ensure absolute perfection. I’m not sure any commission price covers the amount of hours involved but pride in your work takes precedence, I know, I’m the same!
Furniture Artist Focus pulls the spotlight onto a different Furniture Artist each month, showcasing their talent and skill but also introducing you to who they are - where they’re from, what motivates them and who supports them on their journey.
It’s been lovely to learn more about Kelley Delany of Funky Vintage, who very kindly accepted my invitation to be our very first Furniture Artist of FA Focus. Read her story and enjoy 10% off her Recommended Product, Two Fussy Blokes rollers! Now available in three sizes, 2”, 4” and 6”, with handles to match.
